Saint’s Biography
Saint Prudentius of Tarazona was born in Armentia, Spain. He comes from Catholic parents of a noble family who gave him an accurate spiritual and cultural formation.
At fifteen, he left his paternal home to lead a hermit life under the guidance of the hermit Saint Saturio, near Osma, Old Castille, Spain. Seven years later, Prudentius moved to Calahorra to evangelize there. He opposed the idolators and therefore had to take refuge in Tarazona, where he lived for many years among the lower ministers of the cathedral. He was appointed sacristan and archdeacon.
When the bishop of the diocese died Prudentius was elected to succeed him, and in this office, he fulfilled all his duties.
Death
He died in Armentia, Alava province, Spain.
