Saint Severinus of Noricum’s Life History
The Apostle of Noricum, as was referred Severinus of Noricum, was born in 410 AD in either Southern Italy or the Roman Province of Africa. His history is shrouded in mystery but his first known appearance was along the Danube river in Noricum, preaching Christianity, supplying foodstuff to the starving, redeeming captives and establishing monasteries, one at Faviannae and another at Passau.
He instituted hospices in chaotic territories disadvantaged by the Great Migrations. He fasted severely. He established refugee centers for people displaced by destruction of Asturis by the Huns under Attila as he had prophesied and founded monasteries in the struck regions, to re-establish them spiritually.
He died in his monastic cell at Favianae, while singing Psalm 150.
