St Silaus of Lucca, also known as Silave, Silan, or Father of the Poor, was a monk, abbot of Saint Brendan’s Abbey and a Bishop in Ireland. He was born in the 11th century AD in Ireland and died in 1100 AD in Lucca, Italy. We celebrate his feast day on May 17 every year in the Catholic Church.
