St Simon the Zealot or the Cananean was one of the chosen apostles of Jesus as written in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.
He is one of those apostles whose information is little known.
We celebrate his feast day together with St Jude Thaddaeus, Apostle on October 28 every year in the Catholic Church.

St Simon the Apostle Life History
Saint Simon was a simple Galilean, called by Our Lord to be one of the pillars of His Church. Zelotes, “the zealot,” was the surname that he bore among the disciples.
Armed with this zeal he went forth to combat unbelief and sin, and made the conquest of many souls for His Divine Lord.
Saint Simon is said to have preached in Egypt and later on in life joined St Jude in Persia where they preached and converted many to Christ. As fate would have it, their preaching also attracted enemies who martyred them.
St Simon is mentioned several times in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.

Death
Saint Simon was killed using a saw and died as a martyr in Armenia together with St Jude.
Relics
After his death, St Simon’s remains were taken to Rome and preserved in a crypt inside St. Peter’s Basilica. He shares his tomb together with St Jude Thaddaeus, Apostle.
