St David I of Scotland was the King of Scotland from 1124 to 1153. He was the youngest son of King Malcolm III Canmore and Saint Margaret of Scotland and brother of Saint Matilde. He was born in 1085 AD and died on May 24 1153 in Carlisle, Scotland. We celebrate his feast day on May 24 every year in the Catholic Church.

St David I of Scotland was the youngest son of King Malcolm III Canmore and Saint Margaret of Scotland. He was also the brother of St Matilda of Scotland. He became the King of Scotland in 1124 after his brother Alexander died.
David was devoted and generous to the poor. He also used his wealth to establish and maintain many dioceses and monasteries.
At the end of his life, he received the anointing of the sick and kept on reading the sacred scriptures of the Bible and praying. He died at dawn on Sunday, May 24 1153
