St Liberius of Ancona, also known as Liverio, or Oliviero, was a pious hermit in Ancona born in the 5th century AD. When he died, he was buried at San Silvestro Church outside Ancona, Italy. This Church was later re-named San Liberius.

Later on, that area was attacked by pirates and his relics were moved to San Lorenzo Church in Ancona. This Church would later be transformed into San Ciriaco Cathedral.

Later on, in 1756, St Liberius’ relics were solemnly enshrined for public veneration.

We celebrate his feast day on May 27 every year in the Catholic Church.
