He died as a martyr on May 27 1620 in Nagasaki, Japan and was beatified on May 7 1867 by Pope Blessed Pius IX.
We celebrate him with an additional Memorial on September 10 as one of the 205 Martyrs of Japan

In addition, he was known for repressing simony, nepotism, and the usurpation of Church authority by German imperial authorities.
