St Thecla of Kitzingen Life History
St Thecla of Kitzingen was initially a Benedictine nun at Wimborne Abbey in Dorset, England. Here, she was under abbess St Tetta.
At one time St Boniface requested St Tetta for some helpers to assist him in his missionary work in Germany. Saint Lioba and St Thecla were among those who were selected and sent to St Boniface.
They went as missionaries to Germany and St Thecla became the first abbess of the Ochsenfurt Abbey. Later on, she became the abbess of the Kitzingen Abbey after the death of Hadelonga, the foundress. Here she ruled and supervised the nuns for many years.
Thecla died in 790 AD at the Kitzingen Abbey in Germany. During the Peasant’s War of 1524–1525 in Germany, the anti–Catholic forces scattered her relics.
