Bl. Florentina Nicol Goni Biography

Bl. Florentina Nicol Goni was the youngest in a family with four children. She was educated in Saint Rose of Lima Dominican boarding school at Huesca in Spain and became a Dominican nun in 1885 under the name Ascension. She became a teacher in 1886 until 1913 when the Spanish took over the school expelling the sisters.

Florentina went to work as a missionary in Peru arriving with 8 other on 30th December 1913 where they taught girls and cared for the sick and the poor. SHe is the Co-founder of the Dominican missionaries of the Rosary on 5 October 1918 and served as a superior her entire life. Today, the Congregation has grown to 785 missionaries in 21 Countries.
