Joachim of Fiore was born Born in 1130 at Celico, Calabria, Kingdom of Naples (in modern Italy) to a middle-class family. His father was a notary. Joachim was the page to the court of the Norman King Roger of Sicily. Joachim was a Pilgrim to Palestine and also a Priest. He was a Benedictine Cistercian monk at Santa Maria Della Sambucina Abbey near Luzzi, Italy, where he tried to reform the Order. He was the head of the Monks at Santa Maria di Corazzo Abbey in Calabria, Italy in 1176 AD.
