Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Peter Armengol was born to a noble family. He wasted his youth in dissolute living and rode for a while as a brigand and thief. Armengol tried to hijack his father‘s entourage and made him re-think his life.
In 1258 he joined the Mercedarians from that point on he worked to ransom hostages. Took the place of 18 captured Christian children and endured enough torture for the entire group, including being hanged until his tormentors thought he was dead.
Armengol survived the experience and retired to the convent of Saint Mary of the Meadows. The life of pain Armengol led as a result of the torture, led to his being considered a martyr.
Death
He died in 1304 at Tarragona, Urgell region, eastern Spanish Pyrenees of natural causes.
