Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Ramón Vargas González was born in Jalisco, Mexico on January 22, 1905. Bl. Ramón Vargas Gonzalez was the seventh of eleven brothers. He followed his father’s footsteps upon entering the School of Medicine, where he stood out for his good humor. Bl. Ramón Vargas Gonzalez took care of the health of the poor for free.
Bl. Ramón Vargas Gonzalez became a member of Catholic Youth Association of Mexico.
Arrest & Death
On April 1, 1927, Vargas Gonzalez arrested at home a large group of policemen seized the house. Bl. Ramón Vargas Gonzalez could have escaped without being noticed by his captors, but he surrendered. He shot by a firing squad on that same year. Before being shot, Ramón flexed the fingers of his right-hand forming the sign of the cross.
Beatification date was on November 20, 2005, he was Beatified by Pope John Paul II, as part of a group formed by him and 8 other Mexican martyrs.
