Today’s Bible Verse of the Day Reflections
Jesus is still preparing us for His departure from the earth through His ascension to Heaven.
It was inevitable for Him not to go back to His Heavenly Father because His purpose on earth had been accomplished. He has already taught His disciples about their mission to spread the Good News to all nations.
Jesus had died on the cross to save us from our sins.
Christ had also resurrected from the dead and appeared to them so that the disciples may not despair. He also appeared after His resurrection to confirm His earlier predictions to them. He will be crucified, die and rise on the third day. Indeed Jesus was God!
Now that His time to ascend to Heaven had come, He was preparing the disciples to go out on their own, without Him. They would experience first-hand the challenges of choosing God and not the world.
This is why He promised to send the Holy Spirit to always guide, guard, protect and govern the disciples and the endeavoured to proclaim the Good News to the world
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, He is part of the Holy Trinity – God manifesting Himself in three forms but in essence only one.
Let us prepare ourselves to receive the Holy Spirit our helper. He will give us His Gifts so that we may face the earthly challenges with faith and confidence as we proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit and fill our hearts. Light in us the fire of your Love. Send your spirit to us your faithfuls and that we shall be created and you shall renew the face of the world. Amen.
