behold I am sending the promise of my Father upon you, but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.
Then he led them out as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them.

Today’s Bible Verse of the Day Reflections
Hallelujah! Jesus ascends to Heaven. Right now we feel happy and at peace knowing that. The disciples too were filled with great joy after experiencing this Holy act of Ascension of our Lord.
Instead of being sad and in despair, the disciples returned to Jerusalem a very happy lot. The ascension of Jesus gave them great comfort and joy.
They now awaited the power, strength and guardianship of the Holy Spirit as promised by Jesus Christ.
In today’s life, when some of our leaders, say political leaders, die or go to jail or retire to a different place, their influence dies away.
This is because they do not leave behind a helping hand to propel their mission and vision.
The above scenario is different from what happened to the disciples. Jesus’ mission was well communicated and the Holy Spirit is the helper, who until today continues to give us the strength to proclaim the Good News.
The ascension of Jesus marked the coming of the Holy Spirit. So be strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit as we endeavour to spread the Word of God to all nations.
Prayer: Holy Spirit giver of life and strength, come and dwell in us. Always give us the strength to combat the evil one.
Help us to overcome sin and evil temptations. Give us courage to overcome persecutions as we proclaim the Good News to the world. Amen.
