Biography
Saint Calais of Anisole was an abbot and the founder of a monastery in the present day Saint Calais. He grew up in a distinguished family from Auvergne. His reputation for holiness was so far-reaching, that he got so many interested students. Due to this, he founded the Benedictine Anisola Abbey for them.
St. Calais grew up at Menat monastery which is in Riom, France. He was a good friend of St. Avitus of Perche. His ordination was at St Mesmin de Micy abbey. Which is located near Orleans in France. He was a hermit in Maine-et-Loire in France. This is where he got his reputation for holiness.
