Saint Defendente the Theban Life History

Saint Defendente the Theban also known as, Defendente of Thebes, Defendens, was one of the Christian martyrs of the Theban Legion, led by St. Maurizio. Defendens was martyred for refusing to leave the Christian faith, under the Roman Emperor Maximian (250-310).

The massacre took place by beheading, in Agaunus, near the Rhone in the territory of Marseilles, France in 286 AD. His memorial is celebrated on January 2.
