St Guy of Pomposa was born in the late 10th Century AD. He was Known in his youth for being meticulous about his clothing and appearance. This was until the day he realized that it was simply vanity and traded his fine clothes for a beggar‘s rags. He was a Pilgrim to Rome, Italy.
He was a spiritual student for three years of a hermit name Martin on an island in the River Po. Guy was a monk at Pomposa abbey near Ferrera, Italy. He was also a Benedictine monk at Saint Severus abbey, Ravenna, Italy. He was the head of monks at Ravenna and at Pomposa.
