St. Laurentius Bai Xiaoman Biography
Saint Laurentius Bai Xiaoman was also known as Laurence Pe-Man. He was born to a poor family and orphaned while young. He became a layman and a day laborer in Guangxi, China and then in the neighboring village of Yaoshan.
Laurentius married at his thirties and had one daughter. He converted joining the church in 1855 Ad and was baptized, Lawrence. He was a spiritual student of Saint Augustus Chapdelaine. When he protested the arrest of his spiritual teacher, he was ordered to denounce his faith and refused. He was then arrested, tortured and sentenced to death.
