Saint Gobrain of Vannes

St. Gobrain of Vannes was also known as Gobrien. He was a Breton monk, a priest and a bishop of Vannes, France. At age 87, he retired from his see to live his remaining days as a hermit. He is known for healing by prayer. He died in 725 due to natural causes and interred in the Chapelle de Saint Gobrien, Saint-Servant, France.

Feast of the Patronage of Our Lady

Feast of the Patronage of Our Lady was permitted by a 1679 decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites for all provinces of Spain, in memory of the victories obtained there over infidels. Pope Benedict XIII granted it to the Papal States and it may now be celebrated with due permission by churches throughout the world.

Saint Alfric of Canterbury

St. Alfric of Canterbury was also known as Aelfric or Alfrick. He was a benedictine monk of Abingdon Abbey, England. An abbot of Abingdon, bishop of Wilton, England and an Archbishop of Canterbury, England in 995. It was during his governance that Kent was invaded by Danes. He died in 1005 due to natural causes.

Saint Fidentius of Padua

St. Fidentius of Padua was also known as Fidenzio. He was the third bishop of Padua, Italy, serving from 166 to 169. He is the patron of Megliadino San Fidenzio, Italy and Polverara, Italy.

Saint Ludre

St. Ludre has an additional memorial on 1st November (Jerome Martyrology. He was also known as Lusor or Lusore. He was the son of St. Leocadio of DĂ©ols and a convert. He died almost immediately after baptism still wearing the white robes and his relics are at DĂ©ols on the Indre (modern Bourges, France).

Saint Elpidius the Martyr

St. Elpidius the Martyr was an official in the court of Emperor Constantius. He was demoted from the court by Julian the Apostate. He died as a martyr after being dragged by wild horses and then burned at the stake in 362.

Saint Africus of Comminges

St. Africus of Comminges was also referred to as Afrique of Comminges. He was a seventh century bishop of Comminges, France. Upon his death, his relics and shrine were destroyed by Calvinists in the 16th century.

Saint CĂ©ronne

St. CĂ©ronne was born in Corneilhan, France and raised in a pagan family. She was a convert who was baptized at Bordeaux, France where she became an evangelist. She died in 490 due to natural causes.

St. Marcellus the Martyr died as a Martyr after being dragged by wild horses and then burned at the stake in 362.

St. Agostino of Capua was also known as Augustine. He was martyred in the persecutions of Decius and died in 250AD in Capua, Campania, Italy.

Saint Felicita of Capua

St. Felicita of Capua was also known as Felicity. She was martyred in the persecutions of Decius and died in 250AD in Capua, Campania, Italy.

Saint Eustochius the Martyr

St. Eustochius the Martyr died a Martyr after being dragged by wild horses and then burned at the stake in 362 .

The martyrs of Africa were a group of North African Christians who were murdered together for their faith.

Martyrs of Almeria

The martyrs of Almeria were a group of Christians who soon after the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the Communist-oriented Popular Front had all clergy and religious arrested and abused as they considered staunch Christians to be enemies of the revolution. Many of these prisoners were executed for having promoted the faith and this memorial remembers several of them killed in the province of Almeria. They were beatified on 10th October, 1993 by Pope John Paul II.
