Biography

Pope Saint Agapitus I was related to San Gregorio Magno and to San Felice IV. He was the son of the priest Giordano rector of the church of the SS. Giovanni and Paolo on the Celio in Rome. He was elected Pope on May 13, 535.

Pope Agapito was forced to undertake a hard journey to meet the Prince in Byzantium in order, to allow Catholic faith. They received him with great honors but he could not make Giustiniano agree.
