St. Praetexatus of Rouen Biography
Saint Praetexatus of Rouen was a bishop in Rouen, France as from 549 AD serving for 35 years. He was brought before the court because of his involvement in political issues in the line of fomenting rebellion. However, he denied the charges and agreed on exile for several years instead of execution.
He was then reinstalled as a bishop and continued correcting the queen and preaching against evil practices of her regime, influencing the monarch to set a holy example. In return, he was assassinated.
