Saint’s Biography
Saint Theodosius the Cenobiarch was born in 423 in Garissus, Cappadocia in Turkey. He studies at an early age and later became a lector while still a youth. Inspired by the life of Abraham, Theodosius left home to a pilgrim to Jerusalem. While Antioch, he met Saint Simeon Stylites and Simeon recognized him as a holy man. Theodosius and Saint Longinus the Centurian worked to help the poor and spread the gospel. He died in peace, surrounded by his monks at 105 years old in 529 at Cathismus of natural causes. His monks buried him in the cave where he lived as a hermit and the place became a site for pilgrimages and miracles.
