Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Notkar Balbulus was born around 840 to a distinguished family. He would seem to have been born at Jonschwil on the River Thur in Switzerland. He studied with Tuotilo at Saint Gall’s monastic school and was taught by St. Gallen and the Irishman. In 890, he became a monk and as a librarian. Notkar had a problem with stammering.
Works
He wrote a martyrology, a collection of legends, and a metrical biography of Saint Gall. Friend of Saint Tutilo.
Death
He died in 912 and was beatified in 1512.
